Our Commitment

Universal Pathology Laboratory SA (PTY) LTD is a board of health care registered organization that was initiated by a team, to support the Covid-19 pandemic. In support of Public health care mitigation strategies on Covid-19 we have decided to contribute to the course of saving lives in South Africa and beyond.

To this end we have taken measures to actively manage the disease and reduce the impact of the virus on our society and on our economy. UPL is open to collaborate with other like-minded South Africans and Global players. This will enable us to have an integrated and coordinated disaster management mechanism that will focus on preventing and reducing the outbreak of this virus yet again.

We are geared towards ramping up our services offering in relatively short response times, by aligning with the latest technological developments. The laboratory has been set up to cater for COVID -19 testing. With this in mind the group also ensures that the monetary cost of the testing is such that people can afford and access the services.

Our Aim

  • To provide high quality services in health care, currently with COVID-19 testing, aiming to supplement and support both the public and private sectors in full Pathology in due course.

  • To ensure cost-effective services for all Health care sectors.

  • To simultaneously validate and optimize cost effective technologies for Rapid Covid-19 Testing.

  • As well as engage with local and global experts, scientists and doctors who will add value to the Covid-19 pandemic diagnosis and management.

State of the art testing facility, apparatus used for Covid-19 testing includes; WHO recommended test systems - Thermofisher Quant Studio PCR testing, with turn-around-time of 12-24 hours. Rapid PCR testing - within 3 hours - from time sample is received. (Only for specific case definition) IT system that is able to provide direct SMS facilities for resulting. On line transmission to the NICD with all results.
